Chocolate Banana Shake

Chocolate Banana Shake - Kim's Welcoming Kitchen

Even though I don't like bananas, my boys do. When I create banana recipes, I have to rely on them to give a thumbs up. This shake got a big smile from everyone!

This vegan, gluten-free, chocolate banana shake is easy to whip up and is chocolate-y enough to make a great dessert. It makes a great snack, too.

One of my favorite tips is to slice ripened bananas and freeze them on a cookie sheet. I then take the frozen slices and store them in my freezer to use in smoothies, shakes, and even banana muffins.

Chocolate Banana Shake - Kim's Welcoming Kitchen

Chocolate Banana Shake
makes 2

4 t. cocoa powder
1 1/2 frozen bananas
1/2 c. sunflower seed butter
1/2 c. apple juice
2 c. non-dairy milk

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Happy Cooking!
Kim

    1. Apple juice is a favorite way to sweeten our smoothies around here!

  2. Going to try making this today. Not even sure what sunflower seed butter is, but I'll find some! :)

    1. Jeremy, sunflower seed butter is a peanut-free alternative to peanut butter. It's really delicious, but you could use any nut butter you prefer in this shake!

  3. Kim, this sounds like a great combination. I, too, freeze banana chunks for smoothies. Like you, my husband is not a banana fan, but for some reason he doesn't mind bananas in his smoothies and even admits that they make for a much improved texture. Already have everything except the apple juice. Can't wait to try this!

    1. Hi Jean, I wish I was like your husband! I can taste them in anything. Luckily, I don't deprive my kids and husband from them, but this is a shake that I can easily pass up -- even when they're slurping them up :)
