Vegan, gluten-free mug brownie with coconut cream |
Halloween is past. Junky candy is eaten, tossed or donated. Does that mean that there is no need for sweets now?
No way!
Today, I have two different ideas for you that fill that sweet need in a slightly better-for-you way that are quick to pull off.
First, the nice people at Surf Sweets sent me and my family two of their vegan options to try. We sampled the Sour Berry Bears and Gummy Swirls. They were both delicious. They are made with organic fruit juice and sweeteners (evaporated cane juice - so still sugar), but they are free of corn syrup and GMOs. They are made in a nut-free facility, which provides us with a sense of relief, too. Best of all, though, my kids really loved them. They are a nice option if you're looking for a packaged candy.
Second, if you want to mix up a warm, fresh dessert that takes just two minutes to prepare, you should check out my post at The Balanced Platter. I wrote about a mug brownie that is quick, delicious and possibly best of all--a single serving. If you need a treat, you don't have to make a huge pan of brownies that will keep you indulging after your craving is satisfied!
What treats are you eating?
Happy Cooking!
